Margery Booth, one of Albion’s longest serving employees, will retire at the end of April 2021, after 27 years’ service.
Margery joined Albion in 1994 when the company was founded in Barnsley. Her first role within the company was as a part-time cleaner, she held this position for three years before becoming an Internal Sales Administrator in the company’s sales office, where she has worked ever since.
It was a small team of six that established the company 27 years ago, and Margery is one of three employees that remain in the business out of the six original members.
Over the years Margery has seen the company’s product range grow from a single brass ball valve to a range consisting of over 5,000 product lines, has witnessed the premises be extended numerous times and has experienced the number of employees grow sevenfold. Throughout this period, Margery has been instrumental in ensuring that all of Albion’s customers continued to receive excellent customer service, even as demand increased exponentially.
Margery comments, “I am very grateful for the opportunities that Albion has given me. From starting as a 40-year-old cleaner, with no qualifications, to having a successful career in sales is remarkable. I would particularly like to thank Dave Keys for taking a chance on me all those years ago. I have enjoyed working at Albion tremendously, and I have met some lifelong friends during my time here. I have also had the pleasure of dealing with many of Albion’s lovely customers, some of which I spoke to on my first day over 20 years ago, and still frequently speak to today! I will miss all of my colleagues and customers and I wish them all the very best for the future.”
David Keys, Albion’s Managing Director, adds, “Marge has been a key part in our growth, during her time here she has seen the company grow beyond anything any of us original six could have foreseen. Marge has always worked with a smile on her face and has always been popular with our customers and her colleagues. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Marge over the years; her hard work and good humour will definitely be missed around the office. I wish Marge a long and relaxing retirement.”
