Rob Cottrell, one of Albion’s longest-serving Warehouse Operatives will retire at the end of September after 16 years of service.
Rob started working for Albion in May 2008 and has been a loyal and dedicated employee ever since. Over his time at Albion, he has witnessed exponential company growth, multiple building extensions, and many new products, making Albion almost unrecognisable compared to the business he joined all those years ago.
From starting in a warehouse team consisting of 5 people, Rob now joins 15 others in getting customers’ orders out of the door each day. From picking and packing orders, to making modifications to valves, and training his fellow colleagues, Rob’s days have been very busy.
Prior to joining Albion, Rob did a 13-year stint as a driving instructor and 17 years working as a Fitter and Hydraulic Machine Tester for the Coal Board. Due to his background in engineering, Rob has taken a lead on Safety Valve setting and testing, after attending specialist training in Germany. He was then able to pass on his knowledge to the rest of his team, this became especially useful throughout the Covid-period when external trainers were not able to travel to Albion to conduct training.
Rob has played a large role in the training of many Warehouse Apprentices over the years.
Brett Ingham, comments “I’ve known Rob about 12 years now, I joined the company as an apprentice and after passing my apprenticeship, many years of hard work, and a promotion, I am now the Warehouse Supervisor. I cannot thank Rob enough for the part he has played in my journey here at Albion, his training and support has certainly contributed to my success. I wish you all the best for your retirement, you will be missed!”
Steve Bedford, Albion’s Warehouse Manager, says “I have been managing Rob for almost 4 years, and he has been a pleasure to manage. Rob loves anything technical and can always be relied upon to turn his hand to any new products. In fact, upon my appointment, he was my go-to for any technical questions! Rob has been a real asset to Albion throughout his 16 years and I wish him and his wife all the best for the future.”
The Warehouse Team and everyone else at Albion would like to wish Rob a very happy and healthy retirement – he deserves it!
